TC Expands!

The Tomlinson Center (a combined effort between Tomlinson College and Lee University) will now double class offerings by not only offering a Bible track but now a Pastoral Track.

Beginning in the 2009 Spring semester, we will offer the Educational Ministry of the Church, Introduction to Preaching 1, The Christian Family, and The Pastoral Ministry 1.

In the Fall of 2009, the Pastoral Track will continue with The Ministry of Preaching 2, Contemporary World Religions, The Pastoral Ministry 2 and Pastoral Counseling.

TC Director Dr. H. E. Cardin said, "We are excited about this growth and you will see the capable teaching staff consists of seasoned scholars that are also involved in full time ministry (overseers, pastors, and more). We will continue our Bible Track as well."

Another new development is the "Dual Enrollment" program. High school juniors and seniors are now able to take classes from the Tomlinson Center. To qualify, the high school junior or senior must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). They must have an ACT score of 19 or higher or SAT score of 930 or higher.They may take in:

- Spring 2009 - Introduction to the New Testament - BIB 102 - Dr. H. E. Cardin
- Fall 2009 - Introduction to the Old Testament - BIB 101 - Bishop Tim Harper

To apply:
1. Seek approval from your high school guidance office to participate.
2. Complete the Admissions Application - See http://www.tomlinsoncenter.com/ web site. You may call the director - (423) 559-5324.
3. Submit high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores along with your application and application fee.
4. Upon acceptance into the program, you will be sent your Tomlinson Center email account and instructions for enrolling in classes.

What should you expect with an online course?

Online classes blend the best of independent research with the traditional campus model in a virtual classroom environment. Over the course of the semester, you log onto classes for online lessons, assignments, discussions, etc.

Materials are available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the term. During a course the instructor may schedule times to meet online with you for discussion, lecture, and/or mentoring. The number of study hours necessary to complete a Tomlinson Center online course is similar to that of a traditional resident course.

Online courses offered through the Tomlinson Center utilize the ANGEL online learning platform. To verify that your computer system meets the minimum technical specifications required for online learning, go to http://angel.leeuniversity.edu/ and select HELP in the left column. Select "Resources" from the top menu bar and choose "Recommended Browsers and Computers." The Tomlinson Center <http://tomlinsoncenter.com/> is the official church college of the Church of God of Prophecy. In 2007, we continued our partnership with Lee University <http://www.leeuniversity.edu/> under the CAPS (Center for Adult and Professional Studies) program <http://caps.leeuniversity.edu/>.

In January, our third semester (Spring 2007) offered new courses such as “The Gospel of John” by Dr. H. E. Cardin (17 Students) and “Wisdom Literature” by Pastor Jack Anderson of Muncie, IN. (15 Students). The Tomlinson Center participated in the first endeavor of connecting the college students of our constituency globally called “CONNECT 07" <http://www.ccmnetwork.org/>.

In February, the Tomlinson Center worked with the North American Overseers <http://cogop.org/221699.ihtml> during their meeting in Nashville, TN. In North America, we have 84,762 church members, 1,871 local churches and 4,509 licensed ministers.

In March, some of the Tomlinson Center staff participated in the Lee Faculty (CAPS) Seminar that offered training to better meet the needs of our online students. South Carolina was targeted to share a plethora of valuable resources utilizing offering several thousands of dollars worth of resources at your finger tips, most are free. Ministry Helps - <http://www.tomlinsoncenter.com/ministryhelps.htm>. South Carolina has 4,330 members with 123 churches and 214 licensed ministers.

In April, our newly appointed Tomlinson Center Board had the first physical meeting (not counting the various other meetings by phone, Internet, etc.) in Cleveland, TN <http://www.tomlinsoncenter.com/Board.htm>.

The Tomlinson Center Board is comprised of an eclectic, gifted group of Church of God of Prophecy members:

The chair, Bishop Tim Harper, is the overseer of Michianna Region <http://www.michianacogop.com/>.
The secretary and director for the Tomlinson Center is Dr. H. E. Cardin from Cleveland, TN <http://tomlinsoncenter.com/>.
Keith Lambert is an executive member who is a professional attorney as well as a pastor (Newport News - Lakeside) living in Virginia Beach, VA.
Sophia Smith is our final executive member who serves as the director of Palatka Christian Service Center <http://www.christianvolunteering.org/org/org6558.jsp> as well as co-pastor with her husband living in Palatka, FL.
Bishop Don Brock is Senior Pastor of our Collinsville, AL church <http://www.harvestcenterchurch.org/>.
Everton Campbell serves his local church in Gallatin, TN and has a successful insurance business.
Betty Fisher co-pastors with her husband General Overseer Emeritus Fred S. Fisher, Sr. in Clemson, SC.
Philip Pruitt is a gifted pastor from Birmingham, AL.
Elias Rodriguez currently serves as regional overseer of the South Eastern States of North America for the Hispanic work <http://www.regionsur.com/>.

In June and July, as director of the Tomlinson Center, I personally visited youth camps in TN, KY, NC, WV, VA as well as boosted in GA & FL using the Internet with tools such as SKYPE <http://skype.com/>. In August 22, Fall 2007 classes continued by offering the “Minor Prophets” taught by Pastor Jack Anderson, Jr. (11 students), “The Synoptic Gospels” taught by Dr. H. E. Cardin (13 students), “The Pastoral Epistles” taught by Bishop Tim Harper (8 students) as well as the “Introduction to the Old Testament” also taught by Bishop Tim Harper (6 students).In September, we participated in the Youth Leadership Training Conference in Kingsport, TN, that had global representation of key youth leaders.We are in the first phase of the Tomlinson Center with our online presence. Phase two will involve offer intensives on our former Tomlinson College campus (Cleveland, TN) as well as abroad. Phase three plans to offer classes on our local campus on a regular basis.

Ongoing Support for Church College

Phase one in our efforts to returning to a church college is our online presence through the Tomlinson Center. Phase two will include offering intensive classes. Many faithful churches and individual members have been so faithful in offering ongoing support for our church college.

The Tomlinson Center Board of Directors concluded their 3-day semi-annual meeting yesterday at the International Offices of the Church of God of prophecy in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Board members from around North America are finishing the details of a 5-year business plan.
